TRADED 08/2022! I've had a handful of early Spector models in my day, even a few prototypes and this one is quite unique. Simple, beautiful and elegant it has a wider & flatter body than the storied NS-2 which would be introduced some time later. This one is truly hand-made and features parts that were only available at the time such as the DiMarzio Model I humbudking pickup, Badass I bridge and Schaller tuners. All of these are finished in chrome. 

The pickup 'surround' is actually a factory walnut inlay with ebony trim which may indicate this bass originally had a DiMarzio P-Bass pickup installed. Either Stuart or his customer changed their mind but this is definitely how it left the Brooklyn shop. The Schaller tuners were changed from side-screw models to ones with the bottom screw and this was probably done at a later date. The truss rod cover is not original but any Spector truss cover will fit it.  The serial number engraved on the Badass bridge is 13877 meaning it was the first bass made on the March 8th, 1977 production run. The solid walnut sides are beautiful and resonant and the fantastic birdseye maple neck is actually a hybrid 4-piece design that appears neck-thru but is actually set into the back of the body. Does that look like the work of someone we know (V.F. perhaps)? It's passive with just a single volume & tone control and a mini coil tap switch for the pickup. Forgive me for using the terms 'plays like butter' and 'loaded with mwahhh' but they certainly apply to this bass! Weighs 9 1/2 lbs but is so well-balanced yo hardly feel as if you have it on. Comes with a Road Runner hard/soft case.
