TRADED 02/20! It's rare that I get a bass that's a work of art and a playable piece of history. Just look at that SOLID birdseye maple body! This is a rare early model but you can see it bears the familiar lines of the MVP/Buzz bass which would enter production several years later. Now that M Pedulla has retired from building these really early ones are sure to get noticed.
The one-piece maple neck sports an ebony fingerboard that's a full one-half inch thick. It also is fully bound and is not lacquered or coated so the natural tone shines through. The bass had flat wounds all its life so there is no string wear at all. The headstock is HUGE and has Jumbo Grover tuners as well. I've also never seen a bass with TWO DiMarzio Model One pickups, that is until now. The tone is big but also very nuanced and is a simple passive circuit with two volume & tones, a 3-way pickup toggle, mini switches for dual/single coil and another for in/out of phase switching.
The Pedulla Orsini headstock decal attests to the early vintage of this bass and it bears serial number 32. Oh yeah, it has walnut pickup surrounds and a koa pickguard. All this beauty comes in at a very reasonable 10 3/4 lbs so you can actually play the thing and not just stare at it. Comes with a non-original hard case.
