TRADED 02/2023! Even as a diehard G&L nut I can't say that Leo's foray into a G&L 5-string was a success. It was no Stingray 5 that's for sure but it's still a pretty cool and playable piece. Think of it as a 60's Fender Bass V except with a full compliment of frets. It's got pretty tight string spacing but not so tight as a Rick 5 or some Japanese models. There's something about it that I really like and it's actually enjoyable to play. It's not a funk master's delight but there's still enough room to play it like a 'real' 5-string. You have to love the unique pickup design and the quarter-sawn maple neck is a thing of beauty. It's really clean and has some serious tone and without a doubt, is one of the rarer G&L models ever produced. Weighs a mere 9 1/4 lbs and includes the original case.
This bass was also part of the Howard Ridgley estate but does not have the provenance of the SB-1 that I also have listed on the website. But the rule of thumb "find another one" certainly applies here and it would make a great addition to a serious aficianado's collection.
