SOLD 08/2021! No more than 300 (probably closer to 200) of these were made at the Fuji-Gen plant in Japan between 1985 & 1987 and it remains one of the coolest Fender basses ever! This one certainly has seen some serious playing during its lifetime. These have the skinniest neck ever made with a string spacing reminiscent of a 60's Vox bass, although it is a bit wider at the bridge. It feels a lot longer than the 34" scale but is rather easy to get around on due to the equally slim neck profile. The body is totally unique with a very angular look but soft edges and certainly leans towards the "futuristic" if I were to use one word to describe it. Weighs just 8 1/2 lbs and is perfectly balanced whether you play seated or standing.
The single-coil pickups are also unique with a triangle-shape and a tone that reminds one of Lace Sensor (remember those?) pickups. It's got a 9-volt preamp that features volume, pickup selector, tone and a variable TBX or treble/bass/expander circuit that functions almost like a Q-filter and offers many distinct tones. The body is alder and there are several large chips in the finish and well as some long cracks on the back of the body. That is pretty common with these basses and just like Gibson bass headstocks, one learns to live with it. Still, the bass plays beautifully & all the electronics function 100% and Candy Green probably is the most desirable color. Comes with what might be the original hard case but I think it is a 60's case from some oddball bass. In any 'case' it fits the bass beautifully.
