SOLD 09/13/2018! One of Gibson's most daring designs for several reasons. First, the slot-head was totally different (save for the Ampeg AEB basses) for its time and the neck was unbelievably thin up near the volute. Hence, totally intact example are pretty hard-to-find. But ones like this are basses to be savored! This one is totally original except for the Hipshot SuperTOne bridge which is a HUGE upgrade and does not de-value the bass in any way. As a matter of fact, the tone and sustain are 10x better than the original bridge and intonation and string height are much more precise.
This one is finished in brown and has a solid mahogany body, neck & headstock. It's very light at 7 lbs 7 oz and thus is very comfortable to play. It's a short-scale 30 1/2" neck and the rosewood fretboard has 19 frets, which are original and show very little wear. The fretboard is fully bound and has face and side dot markers. The electronics are all-original and in fine working order with the right knobs and 4-way switch. There are various marks on the bass like minor nicks & scratches but no major gouges and just localized belt buckle wear. This bass was well-loved but never abused. Includes the original hardshell case.
