     This one is a 5B model which would translate to a BSR-5 Bolt-On in today's terms. The bookmatched solid quilt maple sides and flame maple center block just jump out at you! The gold bridge, tuners and hardware is also an an upgrade as are the big Ken Smith soapbar pickups, It feaures a 9-volt Smith BMT preamp with volume, pan, bass, mid & treble controls and a push/pull volume for active/passive switching. The BSR body shape has an elongated upper horn for better balance and playing comfort. I've always preferred the way the bolt-ons feel and sound because the tone is more immediate and focused than the neck-thru models.

     The bass is in great shape overall with just a few wear spots from finger & thumb positioning but no buckle wear or other marks that would detract from the bass. It is a wide bass but only weighs 9 1/2 lbs! The neck is 1 3/4" wide at the nut and the string spacing is 11/16" at the bridge, perfect for all playing styles. Comes with the original Smith rectangular hard case.
