SOLD 10/19! Ahhh, the Golden Age of Fender basses may just be the Made in Japan models from 1983 to 1989. At a time of flux and countless goofy new products, these guitars & basses have stood the test of time. And players can rejoice that prices are still well within reason for the quality you get. This is a well-played example of a Power Jazz Special finished in Candy Apple Red, with a maple neck & rosewood fretboard. It features a P/J pickup set and a 9-volt preamp found in no other Fender, with 2 volumes and active tone filter with 3-way tone boost switch. The pickup switch tip is stripped but still functional. The hardware is all-black and features Schaller tuners and a Schaller roller bridge, one of their best designs. The bass plays great and has a really distinct tone that's a cross between a Spector and a vintage Stingray bass. Slim 1 1/2" nut width and a 34" scale and oh yeah, I forgot about the graphite headstock overlay for added sustain and rigidity. Weighs 8 1/2 lbs and comes in a heavy-duty gig bag.
