These were way ahead of their time when they came out in the 1970's and the market has really heated up in the past 6 -months! Even the 'basic' models with painted finishes are getting hard-to-find. This one has a 2-piece solid maple body with some very mild figure and is in fantastic shape. Only a few stray marks and minor scuffs to speak of but the original finish is in primo condition. More importantly, the finish on the neck is totally intact and the wood inserts between the aluminum bars are stable and level; there is hardly any oxidation at all on the aluminum! This is a very comfortable neck and the frets are also in excellent condition. Remember, it has a phenolic fretboard that never needs oiling. The DiMarzio pickup is replaced by an EMG Select and the phase switch is taken out of circuit but this is still a tone monster! I had a replacement DMZ pickup to install but the wiring wasn't color-coded so I put that on hold for now. There is no rear control plate but these are easy to make out of sheep plastic and there are only (2) screws holding it in place. Comes in a non-original TKL tolex hard case.
