SOLD 08/21! This is a one-owner bass that has spent the better part of the past 40 years stored in its original case! Don't worry, it has been stored climate-controlled and smoke-free all those years. I couldn't believe how well this played as soon as I picked it up. The strings were still pretty lively and the neck was perfectly straight once they reached pitch. It actually has a fabulous mahogany neck with a 30 1/2" scale. This is a true transition piece with chrome Kluson tuners and the newer EB bridge with plastic saddles. The pickguard has the Gibson logo on it that was only used in 1969 and 1970. The orange label is still intact in the soundhole.
All the electronics perform as they should. one of the tone pots is still a bit stiff but works fine and should loosen up over time. The bass-boost switch works well! All the chrome is in fine shape and the binding is intact. There is some finish checking that runs along the grain of the body. These are confined to the lacquer only but there is some mild color fading due to oxidation in spots but you generally have to look really hard to see them. It certainly is not a distraction when viewed from a few feet away. The original chip case is in fine shape and the fuzzy yellow lining is nice and bright. All the latches work!
