SOLD O1/23! All the 80's and 90's Made in USA basses are finally getting the respect they deserve! This is a pretty rare model made even rarer with it's solid Koa body and full neck-thru-body design. It's a chambered hollow body and it puts out decent acoustic tone when used with bronze wound strings. But I prefer the black nylon strings for a much more satisfying plugged-in tone! It really does surprise with its well-defined tone with plenty of true low end that never gets muddy and a crystal clear hi end well up into the upper register. The slab ebony 34" scale fretboard has a lot to do with that and the cutaway design gives full access to all 24 frets. The bass balances reasonably well although I use a 3" strap to hepl minimize 'neck dip' which is still not a huge distraction. At only 6 1/2 lbs the playing comfort is worth it! It has a piezo pickup in the bridge and an active 9-volt preamp with volume, bass & treble controls. All hardware is gold-plated and overall the bass is in excellent condition. There is a bit of haziness in the finish on the back due to its reaction to the Koa wood. It's only minor and is quite common on Carvin basses. But the finish is not cracking or brittle at all. Comes in a decent gig bag that fits the bass well.
