SOLD 7/12/2018! These are pretty rare and it is really hard to find one in totally playable condition. This one is 100% electronically and I went through great pains (with the help of my pro luthier) to make this one a pleasure to play. The natural finish has faded slightly over time but there is no major wear or finish checking, the neck joint is perfect and the electronics perform 100%. I've even included the hard-to-find bridge cover that came with this one!
The Les Paul Recording bass was unique in that it featured large low impedance pickups for less noise along with a versatile control layout that was stage & studio friendly. The controls include volume, bass & treble, 3-way pickup selector, 3-way Strat-style tone switch, hi/lo toggle and a phase toggle. That's a lot to pack onto a single control plate but it is a well thought out layout! The body, neck and headstock are fully bound and chrome hardware includes a 3-point bridge and Gibson Schaller tuners. The bass has a 30 1/3" short scale and weighs in at 10 3/4 lbs.
The frets are original and the neck is nice with just the right amount of relief. I had the frets professionally graduated from about the 14th through the 24th fret so that there is no buzzing or fretting out to speak of! Most of these are beset with playing issues but that is not the case here. Speaking of case, I have a non-original hard case with this one.
