The first batch of our Custom short-scale anniversary basses have arrived! Each one of these is being hand-built to exacting specifications the old fashioned way... one at a time with no CNC machining or 'assembly line' production. RLB Lutherie has been specializing in short-scale basses for almost 10 years and The Swami ordered his personal bass 5 years ago and added another last year.  We have selected the finest woods with an eye for distinct figure but mare importantly, all the woods used complement each other tone-wise and that's not an easy thing to do. I was getting tired of so much expensive firewood on the market and paired with builder & bassist Richard L Bills to offer players a better choice at a quite reasonable price point.

Each bass will be unique as far as the variety of woods used. Only USA hardware will be installed. Some will feature Bartolini pickups while others will sport Delano models. The preamps used on the first run are German-made Noll units featuring active circuits with concentric volume/pan and treble/bass controls for a very clean look. All will have bolt-on necks for maximum responsiveness with 1 9/1" s[acing at the nut. You get the idea so let's talk about the actual bass!

This one features a rare spalted/curly swamp ash top with a wenge spacer and swamp ash body. Beautiful curly maple one-piece neck with a Macassar ebony fretboard and 22 small frets.  Bartolini P pickup in the neck position and an NOS Bartolini Tobias soapbar in the bridge position. The Noll B-2005 preamp is whisper-quiet with quite a ranges of tones. Black hardware including Hipshot Style A bridge and Wilkinson tuners along with concentric knobs.
