I have dozens of 80's Japanese basses in my collection and the Daion MK-XXB has to be my favorite of them all. It's about the highest quality Japan bass I have ever seen, even nicer than the Aria SB-series neck-thru basses. It has a truly unique body design that's carved for looks and playing comfort. The neck profile is offset and has a slight 'V" to it and they were doing this years before Tobias came along. Look closely and you'll see a 9-piece neck that goes all the way through the body. That's a lot of extra work!

The electronics consist of a P and J pickup wired to a pair of volume and tone controls and a 3-way pickup switch. The bridge design allows the strings to go through the body and it's heavy gold-plated brass. All the hardware is gold-plated including the Gotoh tuners. The carved top and back are bookmatched Japanese ash and feature a translucent black finish. The core is maple. If they were to reissue this bass today, it would cost well over $2000! The headstock and fretboard are fully bound. Oh yeah, it's a rosewood fretboard with 24 frets. The bass weighs only 9 lbs and balances perfectly. Includes the original formsit Daion hard case.
