SOLD 03/19! Yes, the Nineties were rife with custom bass builders so how could one maker stand out among the crowd? Well the Cote will certainly make you look twice with its exaggerated offset body style. But it goes way beyond just a first glance to appreciate the quality of the overall instrument. Just look at that book-matched flame maple top, it's one of the tightest I have ever seen. Look at the closeup pics taken in both natural light and with a flash.

The flame maple top is over a nice heavily-grained 2 piece ash body, You'll notice I didn't say swamp ash and the bass does have a 10 3/4 lb weight but it's well-balanced. The bolt-on maple neck boasts a nice pao ferro fretboard and 24 medium frets. It's a 34" scale with 1 3/4" nut width and 11/16" spacing at the bridge. These basses usually came with Kent Armstrong pickups and preamps but this one has some serious upgrades. It has two USA Ken Smith soapbar pickups and a 9=volt Smith BT preamp with concentric bass & treble controls. To top it off there is a black Ken Smith bridge as well! The rest of the hardware is black including the Gotoh tuners. This bass has it's own unique voice which is augmented by the Smith upgrades for sure!

If you're looking for something a bit different that doesn't stray too far from the norm then you should give the Cote a try. Comes with a Roadrunner case that has seen some action but still does the job of protecting the bass.
